Fauxmoir is a digital literary magazine celebrating the first person narrative. We're a space where authors are free of the non-fiction or fiction designation and can tell their stories without the confines of definition. We publish poetry, flash fiction, short stories, essays, and visual art.

submission guidelines:

All writing submissions must be told in FIRST person narrative.

Poetry and Prose: We accept all types of poetry — rhyming and non. Metered and non. We like to keep poetry under 40 lines, when possible. If your poetry follows a specific structure, like haiku or sonnet, please tell us so we can indicate where appropriate. Please submit up to 3 poems in one file. Only UNPUBLISHED submissions will be considered. Submit in 12 point font in TIMES.

Flash Fiction: You may submit up to 3 in one file. Keep each piece 500 words or less. Only UNPUBLISHED submissions will be considered. Submit in 12 point font in TIMES.

All other writing: Please only one piece per submission. You are welcome to submit as many times as you like, but you may only submit one each time. Each piece should be no more than 2000 words. Only UNPUBLISHED submissions will be considered. Submit in 12 point font in TIMES

*Please do not put your name anywhere on your submissions. Submit in 12 point font in TIMES, single spaced, and include the title and word count.

*Your cover letter should include a short bio, social media handles, and any previous publishing highlights.

*Simultaneous submissions are totally fine, but let us know as soon as possible if your work will be published elsewhere. Let us know which piece, and we will take it out of consideration.

*Please note that by submitting to Fauxmoir, you're agreeing to allow us the option to publish your work in our digital mag, on our social media, and send occasional email updates.  This is currently a non-paying platform (though we hope that changes)!

*We charge a nominal reading fee per submission that helps cover our operating expenses.

We can't wait to read your work! In the meantime, feel free to follow us on social media:

All visual art submissions:

Please send up to five original pieces for consideration. While we don't have a specific theme, we are looking for work that creates a mood and makes us ask questions. Consider the season, as well. We accept photography, painting, illustration, collage, graphic design, or high res photos of sculpture, textile, etc. If you don't see your medium here, send it anyway! We are interested in the unknown and experimental.

We are not interested in:

  • sunsets
  • cityscapes
  • portraits that do not tell a story
  • plants and animals

We accept both black & white and color.

Please make sure that all submissions are vertically-oriented and are high res. Submissions that don't follow guidelines will not be considered.

Name each image as follows:

title_your first name.last name (ex: flaws_ann.piper)

*There shouldn't be any identifying information on your work. Please do not put your name anywhere on your submissions. Submit in 12 point font in TIMES or HELVETICA and include the title and word count.

*Your cover letter should include a short bio, social media handles, and any previous publishing highlights.

*Simultaneous submissions are totally fine, but let us know as soon as possible if your work will be published elsewhere. Let us know which piece and we will take it out of consideration.

*Please note that by submitting to Fauxmoir, you're agreeing to allow us the option to publish your work in our digital mag, on our social media, and send occasional email updates.  This is currently a non-paying platform (though we hope that changes)!
